Hollywood Parts can reduce loss several ways. First, by working closely with the production, an independent asset coordinator owes no allegiance to any production personnel and therefore is not under pressure to gift assets to superiors. Secondly, assets that are identified, bar-coded, photographed and accounted for early and often do not disappear as easily. This includes conceptual art, props, wardrobe and set dressing specially built and created by the crafts specifically for the production. Thirdly, contracting with Hollywood Parts allows union employees an ‘out’ when asked by superiors or friends on the show for items as they can simply say, “I’m sorry, this is accounted for by Hollywood Parts – the asset management company.”
